On Friday my good friend and fellow wedding photographer Steve asked if I could be 2nd photographer alongside him at Joanne and David’s wedding which took place at Ivy Hill and Furze Hill near Chelmsford in Essex.

Whilst Steve went to photograph the bride getting ready, I caught up with the groom and the guys. The couple also had the assistance of Charlotte Thatcher, Events Manager from Chic & Unique who really did make the day run smoothly!

The day started off slightly overcast, but the sun was creeping through and gave for an atmospheric look.

It was a short drive from the groom’s home to the wedding ceremony venue at Best Western – Ivy Hill. I continued taking shots with the guys and then met up with the bridal party.

The bride looked absolutely fabulous!

It was almost time for the ceremony so there was just time for a couple more photographs.

I took my usual perch at the front of the ceremony and captured all the key moments and expression throughout the service.

We then had a few minutes of sunshine before the rain came, but made the most of it.

Unfortunately the majority of group shots had to be taken indoors as the rain got progressively heavier. The Ivy Hill does have some lovely rooms suitable for wet wedding photographs.

The wedding reception took place at Furze Hill which is on the same complex as the Ivy Hill, so only a short walk away. Furze Hill is situated above Bartella’s, a fancy restaurant and bar, so we also popped in for couple of photos as the weather was still wet.

After the speeches, the desserts were being served when we noticed a break in the clouds. We mentioned this to the couple and they came running!

As we are with you the entire day there is usually an opportunity to get outside at some point when its a wet day.

I had an awesome time photographing Joanne and David’s wedding with Steve, there were just a few more shots still to do. I can offer a two photographer service for a very reasonable upgrade price on any package.
