Last Thursday I photographed this wedding for Heidi and Neil which took place at Smeetham Hall Barn (www.smeethamhall.co.uk) in Bulmer near Sudbury, Suffolk.

I arrived at the Stoke by Nayland Hotel at Leavenheath where couple were getting ready. I met up with the boys first and took a some photographs before they moved on to the church and then caught up with the girls.

We then made the journey to St Andrews Church in Bulmer for the ceremony. I was allowed to photograph during the ceremony but only from the rear of the church. It is always wise to check with your church to find out what is permitted with regards to photography so not to be disappointed.

After a few photographs outside the church we then took the short journey to Smeetham Hall Barn which is an absolutely fabulous location for wedding photographs!

I took lots of casual photographs of the guests enjoying themselves before we all went in for the meal and the speeches.

After the meal I took the couple around the grounds for some romantic photographs. On a summer wedding this is a great idea as the evening sun give the venue a completely different look.

I was also on hand to take evening portraits for the guests. My previous customers Nicole and Tim whose wedding I photographed in 2009 who had recommended me to Heidi and Neil were also at the wedding. I love word of mouth, thank you guys!

It was then time for the cake cutting and the first dance.

The entertainment was provided by Your Wedding Disco (www.yourweddingdisco.com) and I have to say they had some of the best lights I’ve seen which really made the dancing photographs look great!
