On Friday last week I had the first of three weddings over the bank holiday weekend. This wedding was for Gemma and James and it took place at Aythorpe Roding Church and also the White Hall Hotel in Broxted, Essex, a fabulous wedding venue.

I arrived at the bride’s home to capture the pre-wedding shots, and there were lots of animals taking an interest in all the excitement.

As the church was only a minute away, I popped along to catch up with the Groom and the boys.

This worked out well because as I returned to the house the girls were just about ready for some photographs.

It was then time for the ceremony. Unfortunately the Reverend of St. Mary’s Church, Aythorpe Roding doesn’t permit any photography during the ceremony so I was unable to capture the expression, exchanging of the rings and those special moments. Luckily the couple were aware of the photograph policy prior to the wedding, but I would recommend any couples getting married to check with their church or registrar.

I did take a quick shot from the back of the church without any flash whilst a hymn was being sung as it didn’t interfere with the proceedings.

We then took the 20 minute drive to the White Hall Hotel where I have photographed a couple of times before. I capture some casual shots of the drinks reception as well as some formal group shots and some romantic couple shots.

It was then time for the receiving line and the meal.

After the meal came the speeches.

As well as being a wedding it was also a special day for one of the Bridesmaids who was celebrating her birthday!

After the speeches there was time for some more photographs outside, and the weather was still really sunny and warm.

Across the road from the venue was an open field and I couldn’t resist asking the couple if they would like a quick photo, and I’m pleased I did!

It was then time for the evening party to start and ofcourse the first dance!

I really enjoyed photographing Gemma and James’ wedding day and was so pleased for them that the weather had stayed warm and sunny.
