On Saturday I photographed Helena and Giles’ wedding which took place at St. Nicholas Church, Canvey Island and Lords Golf and Country Club, Rayleigh in Essex. As a wedding photographer in Herts and Essex, I love the opportunity to photograph at venues I’ve not worked before as it really keeps my eyes open to new ideas and adds an extra layer of excitement for me.

I arrived at the Bride’s home in Leigh-on-sea, nice and early. I captured the hair and make up, and also the flowers and shoes. Then it was time for the Bride to put her dress on and I must say she looked absolutely stunning! There was even time to take some family group shots before I had to leave for the church.

The church was a 25 minute drive from the home and I arrived in time to capture a few shots with the Groom and his two Best men.

The couple also had a very young daughter who’s role was the flower girl, so I made sure I captured lots of pictures of her too! She was very photogenic and quite unaware of all the camera attention.

The Bride was about to arrive any minute so everyone took their positions inside the church and waited with great anticipation.

The Bride and her father arrived in a gorgeous vintage Rolls Royce and after a couple of photos made their way into the church for the wedding ceremony.

The Reverend was excellent and explained his rules before the ceremony. I was able to move around during the hymns to capture some different angles.

After the ceremony I captured a few casual shots and also the confetti, before we all moved back to Lords Golf and Country Club. The couple had arranged a London bus to carry some of their guests to the venue, so I couldn’t resist in getting some shots. We then went out for the formal group photographs using the golf course as the backdrop.

I found out the Groom was a keen rugby player and had to grab a shot of him with his fellow team-mates. Boys will be boys!

After the meal I captured the speeches and the cutting of the cake. I worked along side David Mills the professional toastmaster for much of the day and he was great, very organised and willing to assist when needed.

I also took evening portraits for the couple and their guests using my mobile studio set-up which was very effective. Then it was time for the first dance and the band to start the party going.

I really enjoyed my time with Helena and Giles as they were really easy to work with. If you would like me to photograph your wedding then please get in touch. Just before I left, I asked the couple for one last shot.
